How much do I increase my weights for an exercise?

Please remember the advice we give is general and not meant to be used as a substitute for professional medical or health advice, diagnosis, or treatment. If you want specific advice then please seek help from your doctor or local physio.

Increasing the weight you are using for a given exercise can be a great way to keep an exercise challenging. This in turn is what stimulates adaptations in muscle strength, muscle size and bone density.

Remember this - You have to challenge yourself to change yourself.

There are two major questions to address:

  1. How much should you increase your weight?
  2. How do you know when you should be increasing your weights?

This is what we cover in the video below, so watch on!
